InMode Dry Eye Treatment FAQs
How does it work?
Combining the use of two methods – radio frequency heat and intense pulsated light to improve gland function to maintain a proper tear film on your eyes.
What are the potential benefits?
Optimal tear film, and improved meibomian gland function.
Side effects, risks, or pain?
It is a non-invasive procedure, has been described as feeling like ‘static electricity’, skin may appear red and feel tender around the eye afterwards – overall very limited side effects of the treatment.
How long does it take?
We schedule 1 hour for each appointment to allow time for any questions or paperwork to be fulfilled. The actual treatment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete – and we recommend at least four sessions in total to achieve optimal results.
What does it cost?
Each session costs $350
Is it covered by insurance?
At this time we cannot direct bill to insurance plans. However, we will provide a Treatment Recommendation letter that you can submit to your insurance plan in addition to the receipts. Coverage depends on each patient’s own personal insurance plan, we recommend patients contact their insurance plan provider to inquire if they have coverage. The pre-evaluation is covered by BC Health, and the technology is Health Canada approved which classifies these treatments as a medical expense for tax purposes.
What Our Patients Are Saying:
“I had five treatments in total with a noticeable improvement in my dry eyes. Emma, the technician who treated me, was very professional and engaging. I look forward to continuing treatment as part of a maintenance program. In closing, this was a fantastic experience and I recommend it to others.”
— Rudy Suppanz, CTech, CPI, DRM, CRT
The treatments significantly improved my dry eye symptoms so I no longer have to do daily warm eye compresses. I would definitely recommend this dry eye treatment to others experiencing dry eye issues.
After several years of using daily warm moist compresses on my eyes to try to improve my dry eye symptoms without any significant improvement, I was encouraged to hear about a new dry eye treatment offered at the Kamloops Family Vision Clinic.
I decided to try the InMode Dry Eye Treatment that was offered at the Clinic after I met with Doctor Tainsh. He examined my eyes and explained how the dry eye treatments could improve the functioning of my eye’s oil glands that were not working optimally or were entirely plugged.
Emma made me feel at ease and she was focussed on my comfort during the entire treatment experience.
I noticed some improvement in my dry eye symptoms after a couple of treatments, which Dr Tainsh confirmed, and so I chose to continue to receive several more.
I was comfortable throughout the process and was very impressed with the professionalism of both Dr Tainsh and Emma.

I found the treatment very relaxing, certainly nothing to be apprehensive about, and I like the fact that the improvement can be measured so I know I am not just imagining it. I am really glad I opted to undertake this treatment, and I would certainly recommend it to others.
I have suffered with dry eyes for years, and it seemed to get worse the last 2-3 years but I thought it was something I just had to put up with. I did the hot compresses (probably not as often as I should) and used the appropriate eye drops but my eyes were irritated, red, itchy and sore all the time. However, I now know this is definitely not something I have to put up with, as the InMode Dry Eye Treatment has improved my symptoms above all my expectations. My eyes are now the most comfortable they have been in years!
